About Of Body & Being
Welcome to Of Body & Being Massage, where each treatment has the focused intention of calming your nervous system and promoting healing, and every session is tailored for you. I offer a holistic approach, listening to your body's needs through the powerful combination of Zenthai Shiatsu massage and bodywork, and incorporating traditional Chinese medicine cupping and moxibustion.
Zenthai Shiatsu
Zenthai Shiatsu is a transformative healing modality that seamlessly weaves together multiple therapeutic traditions. Wearing loose, comfortable clothing, you’ll lie on a supportive futon while I gently guide your body into various poses.
Drawing upon the principles of Zen Shiatsu, it can restore your balance and vitality by working with the body's energy flow (Qi) through gentle touch and rhythmic movements.
Incorporating traditional Thai massage techniques, the practice includes dynamic stretches that release muscular tension and energetic blockages, and applying pressure to energy (meridian) lines throughout the body,.
Practioners like me also work with remedial osteopathic techniques of joint mobilisation, connective tissue patterns and fascia unwinding.
Zenhai Shiatsu has evolved to be widely recognised as an effective form of both structural and energetic therapy. Working with these powerful modalities, I can help to release tension, calm your nervous system, and promote healing within a safe, conscious and compassionate environment.

Moxibustion
Moxibustion is a technique that involves burning dried mugwort, a type of small spongy herb, on or near the skin to stimulate healing. It's part of traditional Chinese and Japanese medicine and is used to build blood, improve circulation, and promote overall health
Moxibustion is a heat therapy where dried mugwort (moxa) is burned either directly on the skin or near it. The heat and smoke from burning moxa stimulate acupuncture points, increasing blood circulation and promoting the flow of energy (Qi) in the body.
It's used for a variety of ailments, including digestive problems, chronic pain, chronic fatigue and immune function.
Cupping
Cupping is a traditional Chinese medicine practice that involves creating suction on the skin using cups, typically made of glass or plastic .
The cups are placed on the skin, and a partial vacuum is created, drawing the tissue up into the cup.
They help to enhance circulation, relieving muscle tension, musculoskeletal issues, menstrual pain and improving menstrual cycles, respiratory problems, reducing inflammation and promoting detoxification through the lymphatic system.
